VMBA Mission

The mission of the VMBA is to encourage their members to use sound and ethical business practices in the making, marketing and servicing of mortgage loans. All while improving and preserving the mortgage lending industry through member education, legislative awareness, communications, strategic alliances, and embracing technological changes.

VMBA Member Benefits


Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy
    • Represents the mortgage industry's interests before the Virginia General Assembly and regulators.

    • Provides members with legislative updates, advocacy calls, and opportunities to meet directly with lawmakers through VMBA's annual Day on the Hill.
    • Partners with the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) on federal issues impacting mortgage lending.


Political Action Committee (VAMPAC)

    • Helps support legislators who understand and promote a healthy housing finance environment.
    • Gives Virginia mortgage professionals a collective voice in shaping policies that affect borrowers, lenders, and the housing market.


Education & Professional Development

    • Holds important annual education and professional development events - VMBA Loan Officer Summit (spring) and VMBA Annual Convention (fall).
    • Facilitates the VMBA Future Leaders Program annually for mortgage professionals who to are looking to gain a 360° view of the mortgage industry while developing essential leadership skills.


Networking & Industry Relationships


VMBA Membership Categories

Mortgage Company Membership | $695 or $995 annually
Any entity that directly or indirectly  originates or makes mortgage loans available to others (mortgage banker); or any entity that provides services directly or indirectly to negotiate , place or find mortgage loans for others (mortgage broker).

  • Up to 99 employees:  $695 annually
  • 100 or more employees:  $995 annually

    Individual Membership | $195 annually
    Any one person who works for an entity that directly or indirectly originates or makes mortgage loans available to others (mortgage banker); or any one person who directly or indirectly negotiates, places or finds mortgage loans for others (mortgage broker).

    Associate Membership | $695 annually
    Any business organization, financial institution or individual whose primary business is to provide services or products to a business organization or financial institution.

    Chapter Affiliate Membership | Varies by Chapter
    Any business organization, financial institution or individual whose primary business is to provide services or products to a Mortgage Company Member or a business organization or financial institution that is eligible to be a Regular Member, but whose business is conducted solely in the territory of a single VMBA Chapter. Please note: You may only join one VMBA chapter as a local affiliate. If you wish to join more than one chapter, you must apply for VMBA associate membership and add the appropriate chapters.

    VMBA Recruiting Policy

    In an effort to maintain a high quality of professionalism at VMBA events, the VMBA has adopted a non-solicitation policy. Attendees hereby acknowledge that employers spend significant time and expense in recruiting and training employees, and that the loss of employees can be detrimental to employers. Each attendee of a VMBA event hereby agrees and covenants not to directly or indirectly solicit, hire, or recruit for their own benefit or the benefit of another, any employee or worker while participating in a VMBA event. If an attendee is found by the VMBA to be soliciting or recruiting during a VMBA event, the attendee may be asked to leave the event and shall not receive a refund of any event fees or sponsorships paid, if applicable. Such determination shall be made in the sole discretion of the VMBA.
