Bill Axselle Lifetime Achievement Award

In the words of the of the first winner of this award, Boyd Allison, “Bill Axselle was the legal counsel for legislative efforts of the VMBA for over two decades and was a tireless advocate, never at a loss for a solution to the many legislative issues our industry faced. His ability to bring differing sides together was amazing as witnessed by those lucky enough to have worked with him.” The Bill Axselle Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 2018, prior to Bill’s death, as a way to honor him and his contributions to the VMBA and our industry.  Nominations for this award are solicited from VMBA members, then voted on by the VMBA Board of Directors.  It is awarded each year at the VMBA Annual Meeting during Annual Convention.

Award Nomination Criteria

Each year the VMBA Bill Axselle Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to an individual that exemplify the spirit grace and achievement of Bill Axselle and the following criteria:

• An enduring career in the Virginia mortgage industry (generally 10+ years)
• May be currently in the industry, retired or deceased
• A long-standing supporter of the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association
• Known for great integrity and high ethical standards
• Contributed to the betterment and advancement of others in the industry
• Willingness to be an advocate for the wholesome values of the mortgage industry

The award recipient will be voted on by the current VMBA Board of Directors. Nominations are only accepted from current VMBA members.  The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2024.  Click here to submit a nomination.
