The VMBA Future Leaders Program is your opportunity to gain a 360° view of the mortgage industry while developing essential leadership skills. Through five dynamic sessions, you’ll explore:

• Mortgage Fundamentals – Understand GSEs and lending channels
• Secondary Marketing – Dive into capital markets and pricing strategies
• Servicing – Learn best practices and leadership insights
• Regulations & Compliance – Stay ahead of industry issues and advocacy
• Capstone & Graduation – Present your project at the VMBA Annual Convention

Along the way, you’ll collaborate on a Capstone project, network with industry leaders, and graduate during VMBA’s Annual Meeting.

Session #1 - Intro to Mortgage | March 11, 2026 | 2:00-4:30 pm
During this session we will give an overall view of how the mortgage industry works including discussing GSE’s and different channels (retail, wholesale, correspondent, consumer direct). Group project expectations will be reviewed and groups assigned. Time will be provided for groups to begin discussing their project. The group will attend the VMBA Loan Officer Summit the following day.

Session #2 - Secondary Marketing | May 7, 2026 | 10:00 am-2:30 pm
During this session we will discuss secondary and capital markets. Capstone groups will spend time during lunch working on their projects. Following lunch John Sarvay from Floricane will facilitate a session on Insights® Discovery so participants can interpret their Insights® profiles.

Session #3 - Servicing | June 18, 2026 | 10:00 am-2:30 pm
During this session we will discuss servicing. Following lunch participants will hear lessons learned in leadership from an established industry practitioner before breaking in groups to work on Capstone projects.

Session #4 - Regulations, Compliance & Current Issues | August 20, 2026 | 10:00 am-2:30 pm
During this session we will discuss industry regulations, compliance and current issues followed by a conversations about industry advocacy and engagement through VMBA. Following lunch participants will hear lessons learned in leadership from an established industry practitioner before breaking in groups to work on Capstone projects.

Session #5 - Capstone Presentations & Graduation Ceremony at VMBA Annual Convention | September 30-October 2, 2026
Capstone presentations will take place prior to the start of the VMBA board meeting at the VMBA Annual Convention. Graduation will take place the following day during the VMBA Annual Meeting & Lunch.

The participant registration fee for the VMBA Future Leaders Program is $395/participant for VMBA members. This  fee includes:

• All four (4) Future Leaders in-person sessions (includes lunch & refreshments)
• Insights® Discovery Profile Assessment ($199 value)
• Full 2026 VMBA Loan Officer Summit registration ($99 value)
• Full 2026 VMBA Annual Convention registration ($229 value)

Any hotel, food, or beverage expense outside of the classroom or Future Leaders Program sponsored socials will be at the expense of the participant and/or their company.

Qualifications:

• Must attend all classes to graduate the program.
• Employer must be a present VMBA Member to participate in the program.
